PPF JEM Application:

• If possible, remove parts from the vehicle that might release dirt during adhesion (badges, trims, logos, lights, handles, etc.)
• Thoroughly wash the vehicle. Remove all contaminants on the paint (asphalt, flying rust, adhesive residues from protective foil used during new car transport, etc.)
• After positioning the vehicle for application, it is advisable to use wheel covers and connect the vehicle to a maintenance power source.
• Try to minimize dust around the vehicle during work and avoid wearing clothing that may shed fibers.
• Dry PPF film after removing the backing layer is charged with static electricity, so it is important to work in a way to avoid dust particles sticking to the adhesive side.
• Use the correct solution and application technique to prevent damage to the adhesive and avoid unwanted streaks, bubbles, adhesive cracks, etc.
• Degrease the edges of the part to be adhered with clean IPA and decontaminate each part before adhesion with soft clay.
• Lightly spray the shampoo solution and distilled water on the part to be adhered and both sides of the PPF film (distilled water does not leave spots when dry). Add 2–2.5 ml shampoo per 500 ml water (more shampoo is recommended at higher workshop temperatures or when applying complex parts).
• The shampoo solution protects the adhesive during handling and positioning of the PPF on the part but does not activate the adhesive on the paint. Therefore, rinse it off with clean water, preferably distilled, poured from a pressure sprayer in larger amounts.
• To position and stretch the material, grip the corners of the film on surrounding parts and rinse the shampoo solution, if possible, always off the part where the PPF is applied (e.g., the hood is gripped on the fenders and at the bottom on lights and bumper).
• Carefully squeegee off excess shampoo solution so that no residues or bubbles remain, rinse edges with clean water.
• If you need to fix the material immediately firmly, use a solution of distilled water and IPA in a 1:3 ratio.
• Dry the applied film with a towel and check that there are no dirt particles or water residues under the film.
• Trim excess material as needed by 3–4 mm for folding over the edge.
• Fold immediately using non-woven fabric and a hot air gun. Gradually push out all water from the edges and simultaneously heat the adhesive side with the hot air gun set to 65°C.
• You can hand over the vehicle after 24–48 hours depending on the season.
