JEM PPF Application:

• If possible, remove parts from the vehicle that could release dirt during application (badges, trims, lettering, lights, handles, etc.)
• Thoroughly wash the vehicle. Remove all contamination from the paint (asphalt, airborne rust, adhesive residues from protective film used during new car transport, etc.)
• After positioning the vehicle for application, it is advisable to use wheel covers and connect the vehicle to a maintenance power source.
• Try to minimize dust around the vehicle during work and avoid wearing clothes that could release lint.
• Dry PPF after removal of the carrier layer is statically charged, so it is important to work to avoid dust particles sticking to the adhesive side.
• Use the correct solution and technique to prevent damage to the adhesive and thus avoid unwanted streaks, bubbles, adhesive cracks, etc.
• Degrease edges of the part to be applied with clean IPA and decontaminate each part before application with a soft clay bar.
• Lightly spray the shampoo and distilled water solution on the part to be applied and both sides of the PPF (distilled water will not leave spots when dried). Use 2–2.5 ml shampoo per 500 ml water (more shampoo is recommended at higher workshop temperatures or when applying complex parts).
• The shampoo solution protects the adhesive during handling and positioning of the PPF on the part, but it will not activate the adhesive on the paint. Therefore, it must be rinsed off with clean, preferably distilled, water poured generously via a pressure sprayer.
• For positioning and stretching the material, hold the foil corners on surrounding parts and rinse the shampoo solution preferably off the part where the PPF is applied (for example, hold the hood on the fenders, headlights, and bumper).
• Carefully squeegee off excess shampoo solution to avoid residue or bubbles, and rinse edges with clean water.
• If you need to fix the material firmly immediately, use a distilled water and IPA solution in a 1:3 ratio.
• Dry the applied foil with a towel and check for any dirt or water residues underneath.
• Trim excess material as needed, leaving 3–4 mm overlap for folding over edges.
• Fold immediately using a nonwoven cloth and a heat gun. Gradually push out all water from the edges while heating the adhesive side with a heat gun set to 650 °C.
• The vehicle can be handed over after 24–48 hours depending on the season.
